Systems Manager
In addition to his work at TRI, Mike Oechsner currently serves as the Program Coordinator for Washington State Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). In his role, he is responsible for implementation of the state leadership team program of work, leadership training and ongoing coaching for state officers, online services, customer service, conference planning, and sponsorship/corporate partnerships.
Mike has a passion for constant progress. While he finds organizational excellence to be of the utmost importance, he always feels there’s room to try a new way to accomplish the same thing better. He played a key role in making Washington the first state to offer online membership and online conference registration, and is currently leading the way to computer-based objective tests at the 2004 Washington FBLA State Business Leadership Conference (good-bye Scantrons!).
Mike’s leadership path began with Washington State FBLA where he served as a State Vice President. This opportunity gave him the chance to learn, learn to lead, and then to lead. Mike has a passion to help others along the path to leadership success and has a lifetime commitment to learn something new every day.
Outside of his time with FBLA and TRI, Mike loves to travel. While most people who travel for conferences and events never see the outside of a hotel or convention center, Mike makes a point to see the local sites. He also makes an annual vacation to Mexico in search of sun and relaxation, which is part of the reason he is nearly fluent in Spanish.
